Mary Jane McClintock Wilson
Mary Jane McClintock Wilson was born October 20, 1926, in Farmington, Michigan, the daughter of Freeman Hart and Ruth Barnes McClintock. She passed away on Monday, September 28, 2026 at the age of 99.
She graduated from the Lansing Public Schools in 1944, Michigan State College/University with a Bachelor of Arts in 1948 and a Master of Arts in 1951. As a speech pathologist, she started the speech pathology program in the schools of Mount Clemens, Michigan, and the high school level program in the Chicago public schools. In 1951 she married Robert Paul Wilson, and they had two children, Robert McClintock and Kathleen Jane.
She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church and more recently a member of St. Katherine’s Episcopal Church in Williamston. She was a 50-year member of the Sparrow Hospital Women’s Association, a member of the Women’s Board of Managers, and served as its President. She was the founding president of the Friends of the Capitol and the founding Coordinator of the Docent Guild of the Michigan Historical Center. She was involved in many community organizations, including the Junior League of Lansing and treasured her over 50 years of membership in Lansing Women’s Club. Her greatest interest became Michigan and Lansing history and its preservation, leading her to author several publications relating to history and taking part in archival of work for several organizations.
She loved the beauty of Charlevoix waters and the poetry of Christina Rossetti and Walt Whitman and was ever grateful for having been given God’s gifts of joyfulness and family.
She was predeceased by her husband, her parents, her brother, William, her nephew, William Jr. and her grandson, John Carlton. She is survived by her son, Robert and wife Catherine Wilson, her daughter, Kathleen and husband Todd Banwell, grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth and husband Michael Kebler, Daniel Freeman, Aaron James and wife Carly, and Robert McClintock Wilson II, along with great-grandchildren, Harper, Willow, and Brooks McClintock Wilson.
