Yvonne M. Waidelich

Yvonne M. Waidelich born May 22, 1930, passed peacefully July 17, 2023.

She was predeceased by her husband Richard Waidelich. They resided on Lapeer Street in Lansing, MI, attended Grace Lutheran Church and Yvonne was a very active community member, later moving to Downey Street. She had a smile for everyone and a willing spirit whenever she could lend a hand.

She graduated from Albion High where she and her brother Basil were raised by parents Arthur and Winifred Masse, along with eight Aunts & Uncles who were like their siblings. She made it a point to verbalize her love whenever she could. She was very close with her Texas family where her brother Basil and wife Jan live and many nieces and nephews whom she enjoyed a special closeness. She spent many summers at Duck Lake, Springport, MI, enjoying family and friends.

Yvonne began her retail career in 1972 at Gordon’s Apparel and continued on to Dancers Fashions. She was a proud member of VFW Post 701 and the Women’s Auxiliary. A love of gardening carried down generation after generation and many would ask to tour her flower gardens on Downey Street. In her prime she could cut a rug and loved swinging to Big-Band music.

The “Queen” of Euchre until her final days, she knew the rules and didn’t miss a beat, or turn down a chance to call trump. Always adventurous, Yvonne was celebrated on her 80th birthday with a surprise hot air balloon ride which she loved. Spirited in many ways, she rooted for her favorite teams and drank her “bottoms-up” well into her 90’s.

She (G-GMA) is loved and survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Yvonne touched the lives of all she encountered in ways big and small.

In her honor, her immediate family enjoyed an evening of food, Euchre and sharing memories as was her request. Please contribute to her legacy by verbalizing your love to others as she had done all her life.

Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

I worked with Yvonne at Gordon’s apparel on west Saginaw.
She was one of the KINDEST of people. She was thoughtful to both the costumers and those she worked with. She was full of wonderful ENERGY.
Thank-you YVONNE.

I always looked forward to seeing Yvonne at the Covert family reunions. She would greet me with a big smile and a hug. She definitely had a big heart and it showed. I’ll miss her smile and great sense of humor. God speed Yvonne.

Yvonne was ” THE NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH LADY” in our neighborhood.
She would be happy to know that Richard’s ” No Wake” sign is still up
on Mildred St, We still need it there, It was always pleasant to talk with her when she was on her walks. She knew everyone and everyone knew her. A lovely woman to know. She always talked of her family and of course her dogs. Our condolences to her family,
Chuck and Bonnie Lyons
