William “Bill” Fritze
Age 97, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed from this world October 20, 2024, in East Lansing, surrounded by his family. Formerly of Hillsdale, Bill was born February 12, 1927, in Oak Park, Illinois, to Jonathan “J Ralph” and Alice Fritze.
Bill graduated from the University of Michigan in 1950, where he met his wife Sis, as fellow students. Bill and Sis celebrated 68 years of marriage. Bill had a career in business, and with Sis, owned and operated CanAm Properties in Hillsdale. In November of 1945, he enlisted into the United States Army, and proudly served during World War II.
Bill and Sis loved traveling, as they embarked on countless adventures backpacking around Europe, kayaking Loch Ness, zip-lining in Costa Rica, and hang-gliding at Kitty Hawk, to name a few. All, after they had reached their “Golden Years!”
Surviving are his children, Cheryl (Bob Bildner) and Scott; 4 grandchildren, Jason (Bri), Ryan, Ashley (Brandon) and Kali; and 3 great-grandchildren, Ava, Sophie and Madalyn. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donita “Sis” Fritze; son, Randy Fritze; and brother, John “Jack” Fritze.
A special thank you to CorsoCare and Careline Hospice for their loving care.
To honor and celebrate a life well lived, a memorial service with a live stream will be held at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw Street, Lansing, Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. His family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greater Lansing Food Bank.
