William E. “Bill” Henderson

Age 88, passed away September 10, 2023.  He was born September 24, 1934, in Lansing, to William and Erma Henderson.  Bill graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1952, and began working at Oldsmobile, retiring in 1987.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1956.  Bill loved chihuahuas and wintering with his wife in Florida.  He was very creative and was able to design and build nearly anything.

He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Cordella; daughters, Charlene Burk and Sharon (David) Slack; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Joshua) Leventhal and Sarah (Sam) Smith as well as a great-grandchild on the way.  He is also survived by his sister, Janet Bishop and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill’s family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2023.  A graveside service will take place in Mt. Hope Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Thursday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Area Humane Society in memory of William Henderson.

Growing up I was proud to have Bill as my brother. He was not only smart and creative but talented in so many ways. He will be missed by all the people he touched with his love and friendship.
