William L. “Bill” Arens

Age 86, of Lansing, MI, passed away February 28, 2018, in Lansing. He was born May 7, 1931, in Fowler to the late Michael and Frances (DeWitt) Arens.

Bill was a U.S. Army veteran, and later retired from GM after 33 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing at the cabin on Tubbs Lake, the Detroit Tigers and the MSU Spartans. Bill and his wife, Dorene, enjoyed going to Florida during the winter months.

Bill is survived by his children: Thomas (Kathy) Arens, and Tammy (Steve) Duling; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Arens; grandchildren: Christina, Brandy, Jennifer, Michael, Joseph, Brad (Mandy), and Andy (Erin); great-grandchildren: Amara, Makynzie, Treton, Jordan, Cody, Jason, Isabel, Ethan, Addison, Jacob, Joey, Isabelle, and Madelyn; and one brother, Robert Arens.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61+ years, Dorene Arens, son Victor Arens, and two brothers Richard and James.

The funeral service for Bill Arens will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to that of the donor’s choice.

Willie im going to miss you. It was a pleasure getting to know you and your family while you was at New Life. You always could make me laugh. I will never forgot the story about how you tried to tell me and Brenda that a alligator bite your finger off when you were in florida. Rest in peace William.
