Warren R. Cook, Sr.

Warren R. Cook, Sr.Age 102, passed away March 21, 2025.  He was born August 5, 1922, in Alma, Michigan, to Lorraine and Marguerite Cook. He grew up in Lansing, MI.  He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.  After the war, Warren received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University in 1949.  Warren worked at Melling Drop Forge in Lansing as chief engineer for 25 years. In 1969 he purchased and operated F&S Tool & Gauge Company, in Jackson, retiring in 1999.

Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Grace (Bailey) Cook; and his brothers, Robert and Donald.  Surviving are:  son, Warren (Mada Leach) Cook, Jr; daughters, Martha (Timothy) Main, Barbara (William) Scholz, and Ellen Powers; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.

Private burial took place in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saline Public Library in memory of Warren Cook, Sr.

Warren, aka Butch, Martha, Barbara, Ellen & Families:

Sorry to hear about your Dad, Grandfather, Great Grandfather passing away. My thoughts & Prayers are with you & your families.

I met a neighbor at Elk Lake that worked with your Dad at Melling Forge. I do not remember how that conversation came about, but he may have said he retired from Melling & I asked him if knew your Dad.

I didn’t realize you were in town until this morning’s LSJ obits. I would liked to have met up with you folks & caught up on the past 60 years or so.
