Sally Bennett

Sally Bennett unexpectedly left this world December 25, 2015.  Preceded in death by her husband, Paul Bennett, in 2006, she is survived by her two daughters, Cindy (Steven) Denslow of Sheridan, and Romy (James) Crawford of East Lansing. She is also survived by six grandsons and ten great-grandchildren.

A career that spanned more than 30 years at Child and Family Services was a significant part of her life.  Many summers were spent at the cottage on Lincoln Lake near Greenville, Michigan, where they enjoyed boating, fishing and swimming.  The family is also deeply thankful to the Lazy River Village community in North Port, Florida, where she later spent the winter season. Her friends there were a significant part of her life.

Faith in Jesus Christ blossomed and grew in Sally, despite several health challenges during her last few years.  Sally never lost her sense of humor, the ability to always find something positive to say, or helpful to do.  She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness, sensitivity and the incredible joy she received from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd., Lansing, MI 48911. Interment will take place in Gunnisonville Cemetery, DeWitt. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel and beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lazy River Memorial Fund (through Lazy River Village), 10500 S. Tamiami Trail, North Port, FL 34287.

Brian and Juliann – you will be in my thoughts and prayers today. I am familiar with Lincoln Lake in Greenville. I grew up there and went to Licon Lake Elementary School as a child. My family moved to Grand Rapids in 1965. Just a small world trivia. My family name was Ward. My grandmother lived on the farm by the Bible Camp. Her name was Barney. May your grandmother rest in peace in God’s loving arms.

Your friend always.

Sally was always one our favorite friends. We have so much fun together, from playing cards, casino, just sitting having coffee, laughing. Never a dull moment.
Our great times visiting her in Florida, making us her favorite meat loaf. She love
Showing how much she cared about you.
I will cherish all our memories, Her smile will be remembered!
Thank you Sally for the memories.

RIP in Heaven with Paul !

Romy, I am so sorry for your loss. I never had the pleasure of meeting your mom, but knowing you and your children and their families shows that she truly left a Godly legacy. What better can be said of us. To be a follower of Christ and pass that to your children and their children. I pray from the Sermon on the Mount, “Blessed are they who mourn for they shall be comforted.” God bless your family .

We will miss Sally’s sweet smile and little chuckle. She has been a good friend to many of us in Lazy River. She and Paul are walking together once more. Our condolences to her family and friends.
