Wallace A. “Wally” Landis
Age 97, passed away March 30, 2018. He was born March 14, 1921, in Thompsonville, Michigan, to Albert and Donna Landis. Wally was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army, in the Philippines. He worked for Sealtest Dairy for 33 years, retiring in 1983. Wally had the last horse-drawn milk wagon in the Lansing area. He was a member of: Mt. Hope United Methodist Church, Lansing Lodge #33 F&AM, Mt. Moriah Post #460 American Legion, and Morley S. Oates Post #701 VFW. He was Past commander of the County Council of American Legion, Former Officer of Lansing Veteran’s Council and he volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years.
Wally is survived by: his wife of 72 years, Ruth; 4 children, Ronald (Donna) Landis, Nancy (Robert) Karkau, Deborah Begick, and Terry (Cindy) Landis; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Jean Landis. He was preceded in death by: son-in-law, Jerry Begick; brother, Norman; sister, Eleanor Stiles; brother-in-law, Donald Stiles.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, with a Masonic service held at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eaton Community Palliative Care, or Mt. Hope United Methodist Church in memory of Wallace Landis.
