W. Neal Skiver

Age 81 of Lansing passed away May 15, 2021 in Lansing. He was born December 21, 1939 in Lansing to the late Floyd and Julia (Kerr) Skiver.

Neal was a 1958 graduate of East Lansing High School, and later went on to graduate from MSU with a master’s degree in Industrial Arts. He spent his career as a teacher at the Grand Ledge High School where he taught Woodshop, Drafting and Geography, retiring after 32 years of service. In his free time Neal had a passion for model railroading, R.C. airplanes, and his 1953 Chris-Craft boat. Neal and his family enjoyed northern Michigan.

Surviving Neal are his wife of 56 years Janice; children; Dawn Miller and Catherine (Dennis) McMaster; grandchildren: Michael Skiver and Cecelia Curtis; and his sister Sandra Colburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Richard.

There will be a funeral service held 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00-6:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

To the Skiver family,
I’m sorry to hear of Neals passing.
I met him in 1978 in the CARDS club. I have many happy memories of all the years we flew together. He gave me my nick-name that stuck all these years.
