Virginia Lydia Albro

Virginia Lydia Albro was eighty-six years old when she went to sing with the angels and be with her Lord on October 30, 2010.  Virginia was born in Lansing on July 6, 1924 daughter of Rudolph and Auguste (Petzke) Treichel.  Her family meant everything to her and she especially treasured her role as mom.  She was an incredible and wonderful mom who loved her children above all things in life.  She will be deeply missed by her children, and all who loved her.

Virginia graduated from Lansing Eastern High School in 1942, and from Cleary College in Ypsilanti in 1945.  She chose a career in state government that would span over thirty years, before retiring from the Liquor Control Commission in 1991.  She considered it an honor to call herself a public servant and worked hard to serve the public with dignity and respect.  She was a life-long member of Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday School Teacher.  She loved to sing and could play the piano, violin, and bass.  Virginia loved animals; especially her dog Laddie.

Virginia was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her beloved siblings, sisters Agatha Kluge and Elsie Parker, and brothers Eric and Robert Treichel.  She is survived by her beloved daughters and son-in-law, Linda (Corey) Sparks of East Lansing, and Lisa Albro of Mason, sister Ella Smith of Lansing, special niece Joyce Cary of Mason, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul J. Lindloff officiating.  The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church.   Memorial contributions are suggested to Emanuel First Evangelical Lutheran Church Almoner’s Fund, or to the Capital Area Humane Society.
