Verlyn E. Wood, Jr. “Woody”

Age 71, of DeWitt, MI, passed away June 18, 2016.  He was born June 7, 1945, in Lansing, to Verlyn and Geraldine Wood.  He graduated from Holt High School, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Verlyn worked for General Motors for 31 years.

Surviving are:  his wife of 37 years, Penny; daughters, Kelly (Drew) Bartell and Wendy Wood; and sisters, Maxine (John) Lance and Cynthia (Rick) Bennett.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2016, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment to follow in Glendale Cemetery.  His family will receive friends at the funeral home from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans or the National Kidney Foundation.
