May 21, 2018 at 4:49 pmVERA MARFLAK!! I always called her by her full name. She, in turn, would do the same to me.
It was our little thing. We worked together for 2 1/2 years during my time in Detroit. She was so much a part of the fabric of the Business Development arm of the Airport Authority. I valued my friendship with Vera, and we stayed in contact over the nearly 10-years since I left Detroit, whether via phone, email, text, or in person. I have so many wonderful memories of her, and will keep them with me always. To the family, know that she was a person who was loved by many in this industry. She was well liked, respected, and trusted. Her presence will be greatly missed. Vera lived a good life, and was a great person. May she rest in peace.

May 30, 2018 at 10:50 amI first met Vera and Rick in the summer of 1977 in Anchorage. Those were special days and years in Alaska. I greatly admired and respected Vera as a person, friend and co worker. After the Alaska days I still had the pleasure to see and visit with Vera and Rick in Nevada, Mississippi, and Michigan. But the one thing I treasure the most was my annual Christmas call to Vera when we caught up on things from the last call. I will miss you Vera. You were truly a lifelong friend!

I just looked up Vera and found this. It is so sad that such a lovely, smart lady has left us so very soon. I worked with Vera for several years in Detroit. She was such a pleasure to work with/for and one of the best friends I ever had. My sympathies to Rick & her two lovely daughters. God rest her beautiful soul.
