Thomas Carl “Tom” Young

Tom YoungAge 85, died September 10, 2025.  Tom was born in Lansing, Michigan, on November 12, 1939, to Carl and Gladys (Hiles) Young.  Tom graduated from Eastern High School in 1957, and retired from Kars Nuts in 2000.  Tom is preceded in death by his wife, Judy (Stump) in 2009.  He is survived by his daughter, Laurie (Brian) Ward, son Mike (Joy) Young, five grandchildren, Brendan (Lexi) Ward, Zach Ward, Dannie Ward, Jacob (Jon White) Young, Ally (Mark) Moore, and his beloved dog, Wiley.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Tom served in the U.S. Army from 1958 – 1960, serving in Germany, in which he flew missiles into Vietnam.  He was a member of the Lansing Moose Lodge for many years.  He enjoyed many activities throughout his years, such as going to the casino, hunting, bowling, snowmobiling, motorcycling, and golfing.  He was an avid sports enthusiast, especially his MSU Spartans, Detroit Tigers, and Detroit Lions.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Buddies Grill, 2040 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt, where we will celebrate Dad’s love of sports by wearing Spartans, Lions, or Tigers attire.  In lieu of flowers, we ask for donations to the Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI  48906.
