Thomas Bridges Hunt

Thomas Bridges Hunt, 76, died July 1, 2012, after an 8-year victory over cancer. Tom was born October 7, 1935, and was proud of being named for Detroit Tigers pitcher Tommy Bridges, who pitched the final game of the 1935 World Series Championship that day for the win.

He served in the U.S. Army in the 1950’s, and was deployed to Germany during the cold war. When he returned stateside, he worked for Michigan Bell early on and then joined United Parcel Service as a driver, later working in customer service and management until he retired.

Surviving are his wife, Abbie; sons, Thomas B. (Robin) Hunt of Howell, and James L. (Sandie) Hunt of Pinckney; stepsons, Ken (Diane), and Steve (Beth) Bailey, and Thomas and Jeff Hoffdal; sister, Donna Snyder; stepdaughters, Fran Bembeneck and Mary Welch; grandchildren Kendra, Kelsey, Erica and Matthew Hunt; step-grandchildren, Michael Weber, Matt Welch, Victoria Taylor, Christina Bembeneck and Quentin Dion Taylor, his wife’s great-grandson, who made his eyes light up; and many nieces and nephews. Tom belonged to the Hazel Park Eagles #2449, Perry Amvets, and Holt American Legion Post #238. There will be no services or visitation at this time. A memorial gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ingham County Animal Shelter, 600 Curtis Street, Mason, MI 48854, or to the pet rescue/shelter of your choice.
