Susan Marilyn (Wesley) Lesperance
Lansing, Michigan. Born July 3, 1959, passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023, at age 64. Susan was an amazing human being. She was a beautiful, highly intelligent, caring, kind and empathetic woman. She was a mom, grandma, daughter, sister, dear friend, kindest person you would ever meet, and the smartest woman we have ever known. She was an advocate and was always fighting for a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. Born in Toronto, Ontario, she later immigrated to the United States as a little girl with her parents, Dr. John and Mary Wesley, along with her brother, John D. Wesley (deceased). A mom of four daughters, she is survived by Alexis Lesperance (Ella Lesperance-Olsen), Jillian Lesperance (Rooney Kaczmarek), Caitlin Looman (Joshua, Lawson and Lennon Looman), and Meagan Ferman (Bo Ferman). She is also survived by her brother John Wesley’s children (John Ross, Ian, Duncan, Jack and Evie) and their mother Rachel Alteneder (Wesley).
Retired as a surgical technologist, she enjoyed many years in the healthcare field. She spent part of her youth growing up in Brussels, Belgium, and later graduated from the University of Miami. Susan was a natural caretaker, always loving and always there. Her love for healthcare stemmed from shadowing her father at work, an anesthesiologist, and her mother, a registered nurse. She loved to garden and spend her summers outside in the sunshine with her golden retriever.
We will miss her beyond measure, but we know we will meet again. All of our love, until then.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Friends and Family of Cystic Fibrosis Foundation at FFofCF.org
Memorial service will be announced shortly.
Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

January 5, 2024 at 10:51 amI am very sorry to learn of Susan’s passing. Susan was an amazing lady, full of energy and life. She was so proud of her family and talked about them every chance she could. She was a lifelong learner, most evidenced by her thorough knowledge of cystic fibrosis, which rivals at levels of many physicians. She was always willing to help others, and gave me a lot of advice that has helped shaped my career path. She was very well loved and will be incredibly missed by many.

January 6, 2024 at 11:21 amDearest Susan,
I am so shocked and sadden over your passing. I am losing my final connection with the Wesley family. The Wesley’s were my extended family who invited me and my family into their lives and made us feel so welcomed and loved. This acceptance extended to the Duncans and senior Wesleys too. Your folks were larger than life and full of love and beauty, These qualities are extended to you and John that delight me to no end. As I shared with you recently in a FB messaged that to this day I greet acquaintances and strangers with a “How are you?” that I acquired from your family for this is the way the Wesley’s would greet people. Immediately one would feel the warmth and friendship these gallant people were radiating. Now I look forward to continuing our friendship when we join in the spiritual world where we can share our love of music and I can again enjoy the love and acceptance of the Wesley family. Gregory R.
