Steven Ellis Smith
Age 76, of Haslett, MI, died on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan. He was born April 5, 1939, in Chicago, IL, to Ellis M. and Grace (Stevenson) Smith.
He was a graduate of Eastern High School, Lansing, in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1957-1960. After the Marine Corps, he worked for GM and retired in 1992 after 32 years.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Kathy (Sisco); son, Lance (Erika) Smith; daughter, Heather Smith; son, Scott (Patty) Gierman; and daughter, Shawndra (Chad) Burnham. He also leaves four grandchildren: Karli, Mason, Korbin, and Madison.
A casual memorial gathering will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at the VFW Hall Post #671, 12250 Old US 27, Dewitt, MI 48820.
The family wants to thank the staff of Hospice House for the wonderful care and kindness they expressed during Steve’s stay. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in memory of Steve to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan, 1210 W. Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48915. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
