Stephen James “Steve” Owel, Jr.

Lansing, Michigan.   Steve passed away on April 13, 2023 at Hospice of Lansing.  He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on December 22, 1975.

Steve was previously employed by PJ Towing Company.  He is survived by his wife Debra, son Nicholas, father and step-mother Stephen and Chris  Owel , brothers Laurence Hollenbeck, Jr., Tim (Ami) Owel, and sister Sarah (Mike) Sams.  Stephen was preceded in death by his mother Carol Hard Owel.

Steve enjoyed hunting, riding his motorcycle, camping, and spending time with his family and friends.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  A celebration of his life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, also at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

Those who wish may donate, in Steve’s memory, to the American Cancer Society.

My big brother, I’m heartbroken you had to go. I miss you so much. There’s a special bond between us as siblings that nothing could ever break. I will forever cherish all the memories we made. I love you, give Mom a hug for me. Until we meet again, rest in peace dear brother.

Many memorable moments with you my friend countless nights hanging out at speedway . Going shooting for target practice and cutting firewood and you even built my privacy fence for me thank you. Steve-o I’m so sad that you’re journey was cut so short but I have faith that the creator had bigger plans for you brother. Thank you for everything and I am very grateful to have shared some time with you on this earth so this is not a good bye but ill see you later steve-o

My sincere condolences to both families, Steve Jr. and Steve Sr., for your loss. Steve Jr. was much too young. I hadn’t seen Steve Jr. in many years, but I still remember him as a toddler running around our parents’ house at Christmas get-togethers in the late 1970’s. His family and friends should be proud of the man he became.
