Shirley L. (Radke) Verrette

Shirley Verrette entered into eternal rest of December 21, 2010.  She was born on December 24, 1922, in Lansing and had been a resident of Bath for over 58 years.  She was a lifelong member of Emanuel First Lutheran Church in Lansing.  She graduated from Eastern High School in 1937.  In 1947 she graduated from St. Lawrence School of Nursing and was a member of the U.S. Cadet Nursing Corps.  After graduation she worked at Oldsmobile as an industrial nurse.  In 1948 she married Harold Verrette and left nursing to raise their family.  She was an inspiration to her family, strong in her faith, exceptionally caring with a big heart and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are four children: Carolyn (Bruce) Weeks, Marilyn (Dale) Clark, Esther (Bruce) Butler and Daniel (Rea) Verrette; five grandchildren: Krista (Geoff) Ruonavarra, Rebecca (William) Carnegie, Jennifer Smith, Martin Butler, Gwen Elcamel Roberto; and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her  husband of 60 years, Harold J. Verrette.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw, Lansing, with the Rev. Paul J. Lindloff officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.  Interment will be immediately afterward at the Gunnisonville Cemetery in DeWitt.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eaton Community Hospice, 2675 South Cochran, Charlotte, MI 48813, whose dedicated staff helped mom pass peacefully into heaven.
