Shirley L. HoweShirley Lee (Rice) Howe passed to be with her loving husband Richard on Thursday, Feb. 19, 2026. Her daughters, Sherrill and Wendy and granddaughter Monica were with her.

Shirley was born Oct 21, 1938, in Albion MI. to Gerald and Wave Rice who preceded her death along with her brother, Gerald Rice and sister, Joyce Myrick (Rice). She is survived by her sister, Beverly Weber (Rice); children, Kim Ralston, Wendy (Jim) Abbott, Karen (Michael) Fuller, Willis (Anne) Howe, Sherrill (John) Berry, Jennifer (Dean) Bostedor and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and many others who loved her dearly.

She was a Registered Nurse for many years working at St. Lawrence, Hayes Green Beach and Family Medicine of Michigan. She loved her family, reading, knitting, animals and country life. Shirley was known to take in any who needed help, both people and animals. Her home was always open to anyone at any time. Holidays were always sprinkled with people many of the family had never met before. Shirley was loving, generous and loyal. One of her favorite sayings was, “if you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything.”

She will be sorely missed.

Shirley’s family will receive family and friends at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, at the funeral home, with visitation beginning at 10:00.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, or Siren Shelter.

My condolences to the family. We were neighbors when I was a kid and I was friends with her daughter Wendy.
