Shirley Lucile Hollandsworth

Age 101, died Thursday morning, August 12, 2021, at Country Acres Adult Care Home in Eaton Rapids, Michigan. She had lived independently in her own home till a fall recently put her in the care of Country Acres. She was born on December 26, 1919, in Lansing. She was the eldest daughter of the late Roland and Elizabeth Beadle.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Claude Hollandsworth in 1940. They made their home in Lansing in 1945 after Claude finished serving his 9 years in the Navy. She retired from the State of Michigan after 25 years of service. Shirley and Claude spent the summers at their cottage in northern Michigan and traveled south during the winter after retirement.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Claude in 2002 and her sister Dona August in 2021. She is survived by two daughters, Holly (Wayne) Smith of Michigan and Jana (Mike) Kane of California; three granddaughters, Kimberly (John) A’asa, Lindsay (Nick) Jones, and Jennifer (Karl) Kreinbring; two great-granddaughters, Paige and Quinn Jones; and one great-grandson, Lucas Kreinbring, all of Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at the Mausoleum in Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing Michigan, at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021. Arrangements are being handled by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
