Sharron L. Spenny
On December 7, 2024, Sharron Lee (Strong) Spenny, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away at the age of 82.
Sharron was born on May 13, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, to Donovan Strong and Loretta (Roehl) Abraham. She graduated from Sexton High School in 1960. On October 14, 1961, Sharron married Harry Spenny, and together they raised three children, Michael, Theresa, and Jeffrey. Sharron and Harry were married for 30 years, during which time she was a proud homemaker.
Sharron was passionate about using her free time to help others. In the latter part of her life, she volunteered at McLaren Hospital for 15 years and the Holt Food Bank for 8 years.
One of her favorite jobs, however, was being a “Nana.” Sharron truly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Attending sporting activities, concerts, and other events brought her much joy. These things kept her young and active. In fact, she walked the Mackinaw Bridge many times, sparking that interest in the younger generations.
Sharron is preceded in death by her father, Don; mother, Loretta; and son, Michael. She is survived by her children, Theresa and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Erik Spenny, Emily (Steven) Erbisch, Amanda (Steven) Dargatz, Derek (Ali) Spenny, Devyn (Josh) Schneider, Dustin Spenny, Bailey (Tyler Abfalter) Spenny, Dylan Spenny, Liam Spenny, and Ryane Spenny; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services celebrating Sharron’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at Estes-Leadley Funeral Homes located at 2121 Cedar Street, in Holt, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 from 5-7 p.m., and one hour prior to the service. Sharron will be laid to rest at DeepDale Memorial Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Holt Food Bank.
