Selma M. Dillon

Selma M. Dillon (Heim) longtime Holt resident passed away on February 1, 2017. She was born August 2, 1919, the youngest of five children, in Ionia, Michigan to the late Christian and Susie (Bieri) Heim. Selma graduated from Ionia High School Class of 1938. In 1944 Selma boarded a train alone traveling to New Jersey where she married her husband Richard P. on October 10.  They moved to Holt in 1949 and together they had three children. Selma stayed at home with the kids until they got a little older and then worked for the State of Michigan. After retiring in 1984 from the Department of Social Services, Selma traveled to Europe three times and even visited the Heim homestead in Switzerland. She did not stay retired for long because soon after retirement she started a full time job of grandmother. She always cherished spending time with her grandkids and looked forward to them being at her house. Selma’s life, at this time, revolved around her grandkids and great-grandkids.

She is survived by sons, Pat (Carol Scherer) and Joe; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard P. in 1977; daughter, Susan Croley; granddaughter, Jessica Croley; great-grandson, Kyle Croley; 1 sister and 3 brothers.

A graveside service will be held at Maple Ridge Cemetery, Delhi Twp., on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 11 am. Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
