Sandra D. Brown

Sandra D. Brown, 87 passed away peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2023. She was born in Lansing on April 9, 1936, to Virginia and Clarence Messenger. On August 11, 1962, Sandra married Norman E. Brown. They had one son, Terry. Sandra was a secretary for the State of Michigan. In her younger years she enjoyed waterskiing. Sandra found beauty in nature; she loved flowers, and feeding the birds and squirrels. Sandra enjoyed watching sports on television, but even more, she loved watching her granddaughters play soccer, basketball, tennis and volleyball. Attending the girls’ dance recitals brought her even more joy. Sandra was preceded in death by Norman, and her sister, Joyce Messenger. She is survived by Terry, granddaughters, Cassandra (Carter) Magirl, Alexa Brown, their mother Shelly Lenhard, and her beloved cat Leo.

Her family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023, with a graveside service immediately following in Deepdale Memorial Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capitol Area Humane Society in memory of Sandra Brown.
