Ruth E. Wilson

Age 97, of Lansing, passed away June 7, 2012. She was born December 5, 1914, in Tiptonville, TN, the daughter of Joshua and Lillie Williams.

Ruth began teaching school in Cronanville, TN in a one-room schoolhouse at the age of 16. She also taught in Phillippy, Proctor and Sidonia, TN. She attended the University of Tennessee in Martin, TN. She was a longtime member of Holmes Road Church of Christ in Lansing, MI.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret (Robert) Pollard of Lansing; son-in-law, Olen Oliver of Dresden, TN; six grandchildren, Anne Oliver, Kim (Mike) Hawks, Chuck (Pam) Oliver, Mark Pollard, Melanie (Shawn) Fulton, Erin (Keith) Coulter; six great-grandchildren, Shannon (Jim) Sain, Dustin and Jordan Fulton, Clayton Coulter, Andrew and Cody Oliver; three great-great-grandchildren, Brooklynn, Tyler and Nolan Sain. She was preceded in death by her husband W.E. “Red” Crews and her daughter, Betty Ruth Oliver.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2012, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with Minister Omah Smith of Holmes Road Church of Christ and Mr. Bob Pollard officiating. Interment will take place in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon, TN. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.
