Ron joined the University Club of MSU in 1974, the same year that I became the Club’s general manager. He was a very active in the Club, served many years on the Board of Directors as Membership Chair, Secretary, and a term as Club President. His editorial talent was instrumental in the development of the Club’s monthly newsletter. Ron edited “The First Fifty Years – A History of the University Club of MSU” written by Dr. Karl T. Wright. Over the years, we became fast friends. Ron had a terrific sense of humor, a journalist’s keen interest in local news and politics, and a passion for sports – especially the Spartans. A private family memorial will be held at a later time. Please refer any questions regarding arrangements directly to me at bruner@msu.edu.

I got to know Ron back in the late ’80’s and early ’90’s when he helped me with advertising projects that I was working on while working with Grower Service and United Agri Products. More that once he suggested that we meet at the MSU University Club to have a working lunch. All of our meetings were fun and productive. Out of those meetings, numerous of our projects were submitted to and won awards at the Lansing Gallery of Superb Printing.

My career took me in other directions away from journalism and advertising, but I always considered Ron a friend. May you rest in peace. Go Green !!!

I had the pleasure of knowing Ron for almost 20 years. We played many rounds of golf and shared a few pitchers of beer on the 19th hole. Ron was a great writer and I had the privilege of reading many of his articles. We shared a love of sports and discussed the Spartans and the four Detroit professional sports teams at great length. Ron had a keen sense of humor and told many stories of his time living in Detroit. He loved his parents deeply. I will miss my friend.
