Roger Gale Ling, Jr.

Age 66 of L’Anse, Michigan, passed away after a short but intense battle with cancer March 5, 2025, in Lansing. He was born June 29, 1958, in Lansing to Roger G. and Eleanore A. (Baecker) Ling, Sr.

Roger was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He worked for 27 years for the Michigan Department of Corrections, retiring in 2017 as Corrections Supervisor. Roger was an avid hunter, fisherman and all things outdoors. He was a big hockey fan, and was proud to serve as a volunteer for youth hockey teams. Roger also had a love of animals.

Roger is survived by Linda Ling, his wife of 32 years, daughter Kelly (Mike) Brooks, son Edward (Tamara Kent) Ling, grandson Robert (Gabby McIntosh) Brooks, mother Eleanore “Ellie” Ling, brother Daniel (Patricia) Ling, sister Michelle (Mark) Diamond, brother-in-law Michael (Kathy) Burtraw, uncles Walter Baecker, and Robert Baecker, several nieces, nephews and other extended family, and his beloved dog Buster.

He was preceded in death by his father Roger Gale Ling, Sr., and his sister Lydia Marie Burtraw.

There will be a memorial service held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Central Free Methodist Church, 828 N. Washington Ave., Lansing, MI 48906. There will be a visitation for one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday at the church.

Ellie. I am so sorry to hear about Roger junior. He was such a kind and generous person. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time in your life. We will be out of town during the funeral but much love to your whole family.
