Rodney Kent Stanton
Rodney Kent “Rod” Stanton, 80, of Holt, Michigan, passed away on December 21st , 2022 to join his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In life, Rodney cared so deeply for all those who surrounded him and in passing was comforted by the opportunity to walk with the beautiful, beautiful souls who preceded him.
Those preceding Rodney’s passing, now welcoming him to the Kingdom of God include his mother & father, Merlyn & Marie Stanton; brother, Bob Stanton (Joy); sister, Janice Brown; daughter, Lorrie J. Stanton; grandson, Johnny Stanton; granddaughter, Alexis Stanton; and so many more.
Rod was born August 23rd, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan, and resided in the area his entire life so as to never be away from friends and family he and Carol loved and cherished each day. Having served admirably in the Air Force, Rod began his professional career at Oldsmobile in 1968 until he retired in 1998 after 30 years of dedication in support of his family. Those who knew Rod often speak of his love for family and generous giving nature. Second only to family was Rod’s love for the Canadian wilderness and the hills and plains of Wyoming. It is here, the Canadian wilderness where Rod so cherished his time with his late brother Bob Stanton and his absolute invaluable friendship with Mr. Bill Panasiewicz. Never can a story about Rod’s adventures be told without Bill being at his side. Mr. Bill you meant the world to Rod and the family thanks you for your unwavering friendship.
Surviving Rodney are the love of his life, his wife, Carol Lee Stanton; daughters, Donita Ann Robards (Georgia) and Cristie (Jason) Robards (Georgia); and sister, Karen (George) Lantz (Florida). Rod is also survived by 5 grandchildren, James Stone, Justin Robards, Nathan Robards, Rodney Robards, and Devon Robards; 2 great-grandsons, Johnny & Henry Stanton; and many much-loved nieces and nephews and friends.
In life Rodney was incredibly blessed with the love, support, and presence of so many. Over the last few months, as Rodney prepared for his eternal spiritual journey, he would want all to know how grateful he is for the unrelenting support of his wife Carol, daughters Cristie and Donita, Jean (Randy), Connie (Denny), Janice (Mark), Bob (Judy), Angie and Victor. Rodney loved and appreciated all your end-of-life support and endless supply of popsicles.
In the end, it is the guidance and wisdom of Rodney’s sister Karen who encouraged the involvement of Hospice of Lansing with whom Rodney and the Family are most thankful for. The entire team provided comfort and compassion reaching far beyond just Rodney under the incredible guidance of his nurse and friend, Margie. Thank you Margie.
Service details will be announced at a later date. Please check the Estes-Leadley Funeral Homes’ website for more information. www.EstesLeadley.com.
