Age 76, of Lansing, passed away unexpectedly July 8, 2012, in Kentucky. She was born December 4, 1935, in Lansing, to Robert and Lucille Brown. Roberta worked at Oldsmobile until the birth of her children. She was a devoted mother, giving her time as a scout leader, and attending many sporting events for her children and grandchildren. Roberta was a member of Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, where she sat on the board of Deacons and served on various committees. She enjoyed MSU sports, traveling, camping and spending time with the “ceramic group.”
Surviving are: her husband, Kenneth; son, David Emmons of Grand Ledge; daughters, Linda (Mark) Aslin of Holt and Lori (Ervin) VanNortwick of Charlotte; 20 grand and great-grandchildren; sisters, Rebecca Shaft of Lansing and Linda Glossop of Lake Isabella; sister-in-law, Sandra Brown of Lansing; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Norman Brown.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 13, 2012, at Mt. Hope Presbyterian Church, 301 W. Jolly Rd., Lansing, with The Rev. Anthony A. Patrick officiating. Interment will follow in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her church in memory of Roberta Emmons.
