Robert Witte

Robert “Bob” Paul Witte, 95, of East Lansing, Michigan, passed away on October 26, 2021. Bob was born on September 27, 1926, to Paul and Minnie Witte, in Ferndale, Michigan. He grew up in Rhodes, Michigan, and attended school in Pinconning, where he met Barbara, his wife of 65 years. Bob also attended to Michigan State University (MSU). He served in the Army receiving the rank of Corporal. After serving his country, Bob worked at MSU before joining the State of Michigan where he worked in the Department of Education for many years. Following Bob’s retirement from the State of Michigan, he and his wife Barbara owned and operated Witte Orchards in Dimondale, Michigan for nearly 20 years. They are both members of Our Savior Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; Children, James (Gera) Witte and Karen (Bob) Roberts; grandchildren, Andrew Witte, Nicholas (Caitlin) Witte, Danielle Roberts, and Jacqueline (Eric) Whitcraft; great-grandchildren, Bennett and Scarlett Witte; sisters, Bernice (G. Frederick) Wait, Kathleen (Walter) Hartley, Marilyn (Leonard) Leavens, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister Harriet Neumann.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, at 11:00 am, at Our Savior Lutheran church, 7910 W. St. Joe Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment at Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason, MI, will take place privately, at a later date.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church and School General Fund.

Uncle Bob was always jovial and fun to be with. I am sure he will be greatly missed. I am sorry we have not been to a reunion in such a long time!!
