Robert W. “Bob” Wachterhauser
Robert “Bob” Wachterhauser, 69, of Lansing, Michigan, formerly of Alpena passed away after an extended illness at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing on August 4, 2023. Bob was born October 21, 1953, to Paul and Alice Wachterhauser in Alpena, Michigan. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1972, and married the love of his life, Jane Weise, on June 19, 1976, together they shared 48 terrific years of marriage. He found great joy during his years working in occupational health and safety account management, which included providing CPR training for hundreds of individuals around Michigan. Bob was a wonderful father never missing one of his son’s varsity hockey, football or basketball games in their youth, home or away, and incredibly proud of their professional accomplishments as men. He was also a doting “Papa” to both of his grandchildren Connor and Quinn. Bob’s passions included boating, Michigan football, Detroit Tigers baseball, and music, particularly Chicago, and the Beach Boys.
Bob is survived by his wife Jane of Lansing, sons RJ (Annie), of Lansing, Matthew (Betsy), of Cincinnati, Ohio, grandson Connor Wachterhauser, granddaughter Quinn Wachterhauser, sister Mary Lou Froggett, of Alpena, brother Tom Wachterhauser (Beth), of Davison, sisters in law Debbie (John) Harrington of Batavia, Illinois, Pam (Bob) Murphy of LaGrange, Indiana, and many nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Paul & Alice Wachterhauser, and numerous members of the Weise family.
A celebration of life will be held at McWilliams Funeral Home (formerly Wachterhauser) in Alpena, Michigan, on Saturday, September 2nd at 1pm, with luncheon to follow. Friends and family may begin to gather at 12pm. Cremation services were handled by Estes-Leadley Funeral Home of Lansing. Bob will be incredibly missed for his sweet, calm demeanor, patience, and love for his family. Memorials can be made in Bob’s name to Gift of Life of Michigan.
