Robert Sidney Sterling

Lansing, Michigan.

Born February 2, 1928 in Grand Rapids, MI son of the late Sidney and Norma (Noneman) Sterling passed away surrounded by family on Friday, April 20, 2018 at age 90.

Robert Graduated from M.S.U. in 1950 and that same year married the love of his life, June Meyer.  He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Monmouth, NJ receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1953.  Following the service Robert and June moved to Lansing, MI where he owned and operated Capital Automotive Supply Co. retiring in 1988.  Robert was an avid fan of MSU athletics, a longtime member of Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lansing, a member of Lansing Lodge #33, F&AM, where he served in the Commandery.  He loved fishing, golfing, traveling, and especially spending time with family and friends at Glen Lake.  His passions were his faith, his family, and his friends.

Survivors include his two daughters, Susan (Todd) Sterling-Leimenstoll and Barbara (Thomas Jones) Smith; five grandchildren, Katie Niles, Kelli (Aaron) Wisniewski, David Niles, Nicole (Matt) Armstrong, and Brandon Leimenstoll as well as five great grandchildren, Rylee Robert, Levi Wisniewski, Adalyn Marentette, Demi June Wisniewski, and Thomas Niles.

The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Monday, April 23rd from 5:00-8:00 p.m.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 24th, at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 549 E. Mt. Hope in Lansing with Rev. Matthew A. Smith officiating.

Those who wish may make memorial contributions, in loving memory of Robert, to the Endowment Fund at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church.
