Robert E.L. “Bob” Robinson

Born August 20, 1941 in Muskegon, Michigan, son of Gayle B. and Evelyn M. (Sietsema) Robinson, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at age 80, in Lansing, Michigan.

Bob was a loving father to his son, Ted (fiancée Tracy Mroz) Longdo of Lansing; doting grandfather to T.J. (Diane) Longdo of Lafayette, Indiana; adoring great-grandfather to Noah and Ryan Longdo; brother of Jean Clum; and an uncle to Tim, Brian, and Rodney Hull, Michael Clum, Mary Fuhrman, Kelli Robb, and Dan Robinson.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Gayle and Evelyn; his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Carol Lee (Keck) Robinson; daughter-in-law, Mary Longdo; brother, Dan Robinson; and brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Clum.

Bob was a U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany from September 28, 1959 to July 22, 1962. He later worked for Sears as a Regional Manager of Contract Sales. His career took him from Lansing, MI; to Naperville, IL; to Kansas City, MO; to Atlanta, GA; to Naples, FL; to Ft. Myers, FL where he retired to spend time with his wife Carol. Bob enjoyed Michigan State sports, working on his 1984 Chevy Step-side pickup truck, and spending time with his family.

Bob was known as a great man. His calm demeanor, positive attitude and willingness to listen made him a magnet for anyone who met him. He built close meaningful relationships with people and was always available to listen and help another person in need.

He also knew how to get things done and was teaching his family new things like he did when helping his grandson and family put together an arcade cabinet last Thanksgiving. His mind was very sharp and he was amazing with directions which helped him greatly in his profession since he was on the road for many years. He also never forgot a name or story about a person he met.

Bob was always on the go. In the final years of his life, he spent a lot of time visiting friends and family and staying active. Many memories were made including camping with his grandson and family, visiting the Indianapolis motor speedway museum, many meals and stays with special friends and family.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022, at Deepdale Memorial Gardens in Lansing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in loving memory of Bob, may be made to Mother Teresa House, 308 N. Walnut St., Lansing, MI 48933 or Compassus Hospice, 801 S. Waverly, Suite 200, Lansing, MI 48917. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.
