Robert, son of John and Lillian Georgi, born on March 12, 1925 in Detroit, MI passed away peacefully at home just before his 86th birthday on March 4, 2011.
Bob married Barbara Meier on October 7, 1950 and they recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. They have 5 children, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. He will be remembered as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Bob had a great love of God and country as he served in the United States Army, 70th Infantry Division, during WWII and received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge for his valor in the Battle of the Bulge and Operation Norwind. After marrying Barbara and starting their family, he started his own business, Consumer Foods, better known as The Butcher Shop in 1957. He was well respected in the meat business until his retirement in 1995.
Bob was a founding member of St. Gerard Church and was active in the parish and community for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and had a true zest for life.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; children, Bob and Konnie Georgi, Jacque and Dirk Kolb, John and Mimi Georgi, Jeanne and Paul Tomasek, Jim and Laurah Georgi; grandchildren, Kori, Kristi, Andy, Sam, Giana, Lexie, John, Julianne and Jack; and great-grandson, Sean. He was preceded in death by his brother Shirley Georgi and sister Carol Dolenga.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday with a 7:00 p.m. Rosary at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, 325 W. Washtenaw St., Lansing, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lansing Food Bank or Disabled American Veterans.
