Robert L. Barnett, Jr.

Age 78, of Lansing, MI, passed away on October 23, 2015.  He was born in Lansing on May 12, 1937, to Robert L., Sr. and Virginia V. (MacKinder) Barnett.  He was a graduate of Grayling High School, a Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, a former City of Lansing Police Officer, and retired as a Sergeant of Security for General Motors, Oldsmobile Div.  Bob was a youth coach in hockey, basketball and softball.

Surviving are:  his wife, Helen; 3 children, Steve (Lisa) Barnett, David (Tina) Barnett and Jeannine Barnett; and 6 grandchildren, Jacob, Sy, Jack, Garrett, Jillian Farkas and Ben Farkas.  He was preceded in death by a wife Mary Lou in 1993.  The family wishes to give a special thank you to Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living for the care they gave their father, and to his dear friend Jerry Gordon.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 29, 2015, at Deepdale Memorial Gardens with Pastor Steven Brown officiating.  Morley S. Oates Post #701, VFW will provide Military Honors.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living; 1758 E. Clark Rd., Lansing, MI 48906.  Arrangements by Estes-Leadley Funeral Homes.

One of the nicest guys and best coffee drinking buddies I ever had. Really missed those mornings and the funny stories from Bob and Bobby Rickets, Bill Montgomery, Tom Jakovac, and the rest of the regulars. May he have as good a time in heaven as he had on earth.
