To my Hughes cousins, I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear brother. Too much loss these last few years. You all will continue to be in my prayers in the days to come.

I am so sorry to hear of Roberts passing. I recall as young teens going on family vacation with Robert to the UP.

I was eight years old when Robert was born. I was convinced he was the most beautiful baby that ever lived. When we moved to Lansing, he was a beautiful toddler. I was about 11. There was a contest in the Lansing State Journal for the cutest toddler. I entered him (I’m sure Mom and Dad helped) and was amazed when he didn’t win! He was a very intelligent person. His comedic style reminded me of Jim Gaffigan. It will be a bit before I can watch another of Gaffigan’s specials, but someday I will and I’ll laugh and I’ll remember Robert.

He was intelligent and unconventional. He always expressed his love without reservation. I know that Grandma, Dad, Mom and Chelsea as well as countless ancestors and the collective love of the universe were waiting for him and engulfing him in love and comfort
