Richard B. Simzak

Age 84, of Lansing, MI, passed away December 11, 2018. He was born February 8, 1934, in Grand Rapids, MI, to Jerome and Mary Simzak.

Richard worked for 40 years as a Food/Beverage Director for Tarpoffs, LouCooms, and Holiday Inns.  His greatest achievement came at the Holiday Inn in Howell, MI, where he was awarded for making it the #1 in the world.  People would come from all over the world on Friday nights for his “Seafood Buffet” which he displayed in an actual Boat! He created entrees and menus that were implemented all over the U.S. in various properties he would come to oversee.  At the age of 64, he became a caretaker for his ailing wife.  After her passing he became a certified caretaker, where he met and cared for other people until he retired at the age of 76.

He was preceded in death by wife, Joyce, and son RB Simzak.  He is survived by his children, Gary (Georgiann) Simzak, Daniel Simzak, Deborah (John) Daft, Denise Roeder, Tim Roeder, and Matt Roeder, 11 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Colonial Woods Apartments, 2001 W. Mt. Hope Ave., Lansing, MI 48910. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

I always enjoyed visiting with Richard. He left many memories with all who knew him. May his family find comfort in knowing, that the Savior, Jesus Christ is always near to they who call on Him. Death is not the end of the book, just a new chapter.
