Richard A. Mason

Age 60, of Eaton Rapids, MI, passed away December 18, 2023. He was born March 5, 1963, in Pontiac, MI, to Charles and Freda Mason.

Rick graduated from Brandon High School in 1981. He married Clarinda Helmker on October 10, 1987, in Lansing, MI, and they had two children, Robert and Stephanie. He worked for over 40 years as an automotive laborer and blind and flooring installer. Rick enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing and camping, but he loved spending time with his grandchildren more than anything else. He was also a proud member of Lansing South Church of the Nazarene. Rick will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Clarinda Mason; son, Robert (Dakota) Mason of Charlotte; daughter, Stephanie Mason of Jackson; grandchildren, Arya, Lincoln, Roman, and Grant Mason, all of Charlotte; brothers, Ron (Penny) Mason and Larry Mason; sister, Rosalyn (Steve) DeCourval; and other extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Sharlet Bray, Birty Davidson, and Sandra Newland.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at South Church of the Nazarene, 401 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing, MI 48910. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the memorial at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to assist one of Clarinda and Rick’s nieces (Dr. Abigail Ginn) who will be serving with her husband (Dr. Brian Ginn) in Papua New Guinea as physician missionaries for two years.
