Richard N. “Dick” Moore
Richard N. “Dick” Moore died January 27, 2022, at the age of 94. He was born in Batavia, NY, on March 24, 1927, the son of the late Norman E. and Hazel (Rykert) Moore.
Dick was an avid collector and restorer of antique cars, gas station memorabilia, and pedal cars. Some of his restorations have been displayed at the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, Stamford, CT, the Shelbourne Museum, Shelbourne, VT, and Memory Lane Museum in NC.
He also enjoyed traveling. He had several opportunities to travel around the US, Canada and Europe with friends and to attend activities related to the antique cars, pedal cars and gas station memorabilia. He and Marian traveled to Spain, the United Kingdom and British Columbia among many other locations. He was a WWII army veteran. He worked at the Chevrolet agency in Oakfield, NY, for over 40 years. Dick was a 50-year member of the Rolls Royce Owners Club and a co-founder and charter member of its Iroquois Region. He chauffeured many people in his 1930 yellow Rolls, including actor Richard Harris. He was a member of the former Tonawanda Valley Collector’s Club, American Austin Bantam Club, and Holt Methodist Church.
Dick is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marian (Davy) Moore, daughter, Cathy (Thomas) Norton, grandchildren Sarah Vincent and Andrew (Dr. Jamie) Norton, great-grandchildren Renee Castillo, Dani Vincent, and Jack Norton, and great-great-granddaughter Lia Castillo. Dick was predeceased by his brother Thomas Moore and sister Janet Thornton.
Cremation has taken place. At later date interment will take place in Western New York National Cemetery, Pembroke, New York. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.
