Richard “Dick” Davis

Age 79, of Holt, Michigan, passed away quietly at home on January 23, 2024.  He was born May 24, 1944, in Lansing, Michigan, to Stanley and Jessie (Snyder) Davis.  Richard graduated from Holt High School in 1962, where he played football, and he was also a graduate of Lansing Business School.  He worked as an accountant and head of Client Services for Plante Moran retiring in 2010.  Richard lived in Holt, Michigan for his entire life where he was active in the Holt/South Lansing Rotary Club and the Lansing Jaycees.  He loved his girls and would do anything for them.  He especially enjoyed accompanying them to school activities, sporting events, dance recitals and competitions.  He also loved camping and traveling in the motorhome. Some of his favorite places to go were along Lake Michigan, Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina.  Richard enjoyed golfing, boating, Disney World and listening to Willie’s Roadhouse.   He loved exploring and finding new and interesting things wherever he went. He was known as a “wanderer” and always seemed to disappear…his solution for this was wearing bright neon shirts so he would stand out from the crowd.

Surviving are:  his wife of 31 years, Terri Davis; daughters, Michelle (Jeff) Chenault and Tracee Langenfeld; stepson, Sean (Ingrid) Scribner; grandchildren, Ethan Chenault, Lucas Chenault, Caleb Chenault, Nathan Langenfeld, Griffin Langenfeld, Zoe Langenfeld; brother, Roger (Katie) Davis; sister-in-law, Julie Winterman; as well as many nieces, nephews, and his dogs, Miley and Skye.  He was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Michael Scribner; son-in-law, Peter Langenfeld; brother, Gordon Davis; and his dogs, Shamee and Lacie.  Richard loved watching sports: football, basketball, baseball and golf, and especially the Michigan State Spartans.   He was so very proud of his grandchildren and tried to be at every baseball, basketball, football, soccer, lacrosse, and hockey game possible.   A highlight of his life was taking them with him on camping trips in the motorhome. He will forever be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Elara Caring Hospice Foundation, PO Box 58, Jackson, MI 49204 in memory of Richard Davis.

Teri & Family,

My name is Ray Easton. I’m sorry to read of Dick’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I met & knew Dick from L.B.U., Lansing Business University & later at Plante Moran, when I worked at Granger as Granger is a client of Plante Moran. My daughter Tricia & her husband Greg Walthorn knew Dick & worked with him as both worked at Plante. Knowing Dick became a family affair.

Dick & I were members of the Alpha Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Pi Fraternity. We had many good times together while at L.B.U.

I would like to attend Dick’s Memorial.

Dick was a wonderful friend, neighbor, tax prepayer, Holt Treasure Hunt team member, volleyball player on Schoolcraft Street, Euchre Club member, campaign treasurer for Gene when he was Sheriff, and just an all around great human being. We have such fond memories of him and our thoughts and prayers go out to Terri and the entire family for what has been lost with his passing. We are grateful for knowing him and enjoying his friendship for many years.
