Rev. J. Thomas Churn

Rev. J. Thomas Churn, of Lansing, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2011, at the age of 84.  He was born October 1, 1926 in Wilmington, Delaware the son of J. Thomas and Ruth C. Churn Jr.

Rev. Churn served the United Methodist Church in the Peninsula-Delaware and West Michigan Conferences.  After retiring from the church, he worked for the Michigan Employment Security Commission in Detroit.  Tom enjoyed modeling with the Capital Area Railway Society, working with the State Employees Retirement Association, and listening to classical music.

Surviving are his sons: James T. Churn and David (Lorianne) Churn; grandchildren: Alexander Churn, Ryan Churn and Pam Churn; and siblings: Ruthann Boyce, and Linda (Eddie) Overbay, and Donald (Pam) Churn.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years Jean M. Churn on December 30, 2010; a brother Robert Churn and a sister Nancy Klimek.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel with the Rev. William J. Amundsen officiating.  Inurnment of both Thomas and Jean will take place June 13, at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery in Frederica, Delaware.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Capital Area Humane Society (MI), Dickinson College (PA), or Drew University (NJ).

I am sorry to hear about Mr. Churn he was one of our special patients. I always enjoyed visiting with him throughout the years.
He was a blessing.
