Rachel Suzanne Ladin

East Lansing, Michigan.

Rachel Suzanne Ladin was born in Stamford Connecticut, 2nd of 2 children, to Lily and Eli Ladin, both immigrants, from Germany and Palestine respectively.  After her early years in Connecticut, the family moved to Michigan where Rachel spent most of her life.  She was raised in the Jewish tradition and had a bat mitzvah.  She had friends, traveled, played the violin and piano very nicely.  She graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School and attended Michigan State University.  After beginning college at MSU, she began to notice voices in her head and this began her battle with mental illness.  This deprived Rachel of many things in life like a career, starting her own family and much more.  For many years her life was difficult and turbulent.  The last many years of her life were lived in the Calcaddan adult group home in East Lansing, with a caring community of fellow residents and caregivers.  Rachel was always a big fan of the Rolling Stones, and as her mother Lily aptly says “My daughter lived like a rolling stone and I hope she has now found her angle of repose”.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, April 28, 2025 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lansing.
