Polly Ann Fitzgerald

Polly Ann FitzgeraldPolly Ann (Westfall) Fitzgerald, born May 28, 1946, passed away on October 1, 2020.  She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years – Richard F. Fitzgerald, her daughters – Karen Nichols and Kelly (Mark) Barnes, her grandchildren – Kevin (Marissa) Tew, Danielle Ott and Matthew Gamelin.  Polly retired from Ingham County as a Deputy Clerk and bolstered about how much she loved her job.  Polly was a vibrant, life of the party, full of personality and bright light in any room.  Her wonderful smile and roaring laugh would brighten any room.  Polly was an active member of the YMCA and loved teaching water aerobics.  She absolutely loved her mystery trips with her husband and traveling to Myrtle Beach over the winter each year.  She will be deeply missed by her family and her friends.  This is not goodbye – as she always said “see ya in the bushes.”

Visitation, Monday, October 5, 2020, between the hours of 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Estes-Leadley Holt/Delhi Chapel.  A private family funeral will be held at a later time (due to COVID-19).

We are heartbroken to learn of Polly’s passing. We will miss her infectious laugh that made everyone around her laugh with her. A good neighbor that leaves an empty space. God bless her soul and you in this time.

Polly was one of my swimming friends at the Oak Park Y. She was our entertainer, whether she was teaching the class or swimming with us. I loved her laughter and “her off the cuff” jokes. I am truly going to miss her when we are able to go back to swimming. Prayers for peace and comfort for all her loved ones and friends.

I remember riding my bike through the neighborhood all the way to the back and then onto the dirt trails as a little girl to get to your parents house to play with you, Kelly. I’m so incredibly sorry for the pain you and your family have to go through. My prayers are with all of you and just know, I’m thinking of you. All my love.

Polly loved her family so very much, and even her adopted “Y” Oak Park co-ed water aerobics classmates. Sometimes she was the instructor, saying for us to exercise our arms, “FIRM UP THOSE ANGEL WINGS”, now she is an angel spreading her wings above us, with her finger making a dimple in her cheek, telling her bawdy little jokes…then saying, “Did I say that?”. Thirteen years ago, “Y” instructor, Jeanette started a craft class, Polly and I were first in signing up. Friendships, Food, and Fun. Polly did beautiful crocheting, she’d laugh at my attempts, and teach me over and over again the same simple “V” stitch. Dick, our hearts go out to you. Polly was One-Of-A-Kind and will always be remembered. We are so very, very sorry for your loss.
