Phyllis M. “Phyl” Dunn
Age 86, of Lansing, MI, passed away April 6, 2017. She was born December 24, 1930, in Lansing, to Guy and Clella Johnson, one of 12 children. Phyllis worked at Fisher Body Corporation, as a cook for FMC Corporation (John Bean Division) and as a telephone operator for the State of Michigan. She loved music, and played piano and organ. She also enjoyed playing cards, traveling to annual family reunions, spending time at the cabin on the lake and going to the condo at Hilton Head Island. Her family was most important to her; she was part of a large, extended family and she loved every one of them.
Surviving are: her daughter, Diane (Douglas) Simons; 5 grandchildren, Darrel (Shannon) Simons, Dori (Andrew) Thies, Donald “Frankie” (Jaime Brink) Dunn, Morene (Eric) McGill, and Kent Dunn; 5 great-grandchildren, Christien, Kyleigh, Savannah, Julia, and Amelia. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Donald K. Dunn; son, Donald S. Dunn; and 11 siblings. Her family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Hospice Compassus and the staff at The Willows at East Lansing for the care and love they showed to Phyllis.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will take place in Deepdale Memorial Gardens. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compassus or to the activities fund at The Willows at East Lansing, in memory of Phyllis Dunn.
