Born September 26, 1928 in Grays Lake, IL daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Koltz) Egly passed away on Friday, July 28, 2017 at age 88.

Pearl was a graduate of Concordia University in River Forest, IL.  She first taught in a 1 room schoolhouse in California, MO working with troubled and slow learners, many of whom stayed in touch with her over the years.  Following that she taught at Trinity Lutheran School in Lansing, MI, where she met her husband of 45 years, Fred Janetzke. She also read the Bible, over the phone, to blind people for many years.  In her retirement, Pearl volunteered at Allen St. School in Lansing where she tutored 1-on-1 with troubled students and led a Bible study group at Burcham Hills for many years.   Pearl was a longtime member of South Church in Lansing.

Survivors include her son, Jacob (Sandra) Janetzke of East Lansing; cousins, Ken Christopher, Judy Treanor, and Tom Haeger; many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Carol Brakora along with many extended family members on the West coast.

Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Janetzke and an infant brother, Donnie Egly.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.  Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 1st, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
