Pauline “Polly” Detzler Guy

Pauline “Polly,” age 93, of Lansing, MI, passed away on December 21, 2018, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born to the late William Robert and Hazel Lee Fortune on March 26, 1925, in Clyde Texas.

Polly moved to San Antonio after the death of her second husband, Linden J. Guy.  She resided in Lansing for 70 years and retired as the Director of Corporations for the State of Michigan. She was a member of SERA and had held many offices in that organization.

Family and friends were Polly’s passion and delight. She grew up spending summers and vacations with family. She loved to bowl and host parties at her home in earlier years. For several years, Polly would visit San Antonio during the holidays where she made many lifelong friends.

Polly is survived by her sister, Norma Thornton, of San Antonio.  She also leaves behind her devoted nephew, Curt Osha, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and sister, and her two husbands, Floyd Detzler and Linden Guy.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Her family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 8th at the funeral home.

Polly was a delight to know. She was always ready to help and did it with a smile. I will always remember her and was blessed to know her.
