Paulette E. Laing

Age 77, passed away November 1, 2021. She was born April 28, 1944, in Lansing, to Paul and Dorothy Wilke.

Paulette graduated from Lansing Everett High School and received her Bachelor of Education from MSU. She taught in the Lansing Public School District for a number of years.  Paulette was a longtime member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lansing and was most recently a member of Redeemer United Methodist Church in DeWitt. Paulette collected Hallmark Christmas ornaments, Precious Moments, and Lady and the Tramp figurines. She was an avid MSU sports fan, loved to read, watch soap operas, cooking, gardening, and camping, was very competitive playing cards and board games, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 55 years, Carl Laing; children, David (Kirsten) Laing, Jonathan (Barbara) Laing, and Michelle Laing; grandchildren, Jordan Laing, Nathan Laing, Liberty Reiner, A.J. Reiner, and Caden Laing; siblings, John Paul Wilke, Diane (Larry) Porter, David (Jo) Wilke, and Deborah (Gary Becker) Wilke; brother-in-law, Larry Knutzen; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents and twin sister Colette Knutzen.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm. on Friday, November 5, 2021, at Redeemer United Methodist Church, 13980 Schavey Rd., DeWitt. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing. Her family will receive relatives and friends one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson’s Foundation or Redeemer United Methodist Church Camp Scholarship Fund. Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

My sister, as you were beautiful in life, you are more beautiful in the arms of our Lord and Savior. I will always look up to you as you continue to watch over us, and I love you. I will miss you and pray that you are at peace today. The old shall be made new with our Lord.

I’m so sorry. Paulette was a lovely person. She personified the life of a Christian. My love and prayers are with the family.

Aunt Paulette the bestest aunt!! You will truly be missed, and your heavenly relationship should be wonderful! Your not in pain and reunited with family gone before, please hug and kiss them all for me, and grandmother and grandfather Extra tight! Thank you for watching over us!
