This is just a dream. I’m going to wake up and you’ll be getting the kids off to school! My best friend, my best neighbor, my scheming buddy. You were always there for me. You were always there for anyone who needed anything. You never judged anyone, always protective of the ones you loved, you saw the good in people, always willing to give them a second chance. Love, laughter, kids filled the house and you loved it! THEY LOVED YOU SO MUCH, this is a void that can only be filled by resurrection, so we will honor you in what we do, what we say, and who we love. We will “pay it forward” like the example you set for us. We will believe that Jesus is “the man” (like we used to say), so that your faith lives on in us even though we scream “WHY”?. We trust that peace surrounds you, and that our pain will somehow be sidelined by our memories of you, laughing, scrambling about here and there. We will take our broken hearts, and try to remember WWPD (what would Pat do), and live like you would want us to. I know, Pat, you’re already working, opening doors, for us here. I know you’ll send that cardinal, that butterfly, oh, the numbers to the lotto!!! (you always said Rob was sending us the numbers!!!) I can only say that I will miss you so very much, my dear friend and I will do my best to carry on, because you would want that.
