Patricia Barry

Age 89, passed away August 11, 2020. She was born May 23, 1931, in Lansing, to Walter and
Rhea Fernand. Patricia graduated from Resurrection High School followed by the Mercy School
of Nursing – St. Lawrence with a Certificate of Nursing, and worked as a surgical Registered
Nurse at Ingham Medical Center. She was a life-long member of the Church of the Resurrection
and was active in many parish activities. With those who had the good fortune to know her, she
was known for her knitting (baby blankets, afghans, sweaters, dog sweaters, mittens, scarves,
Christmas stockings and socks), needlework, and her incredible pies as well as her strength,
determination and love.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard; her children, Richard II, Jackie (Sue), and
Tom (Laurie) Barry; 5 grandchildren, Richard III ((Simone), Joshua, Nicholas (Taylor),
Brendan, and Caitlyn; 4 great-grandchildren, Piper, Grace Ann, Richard IV, and Ronan; and
sisters, Betty Murphy and Janet (Terry) Baker and 6 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 14, 2020, followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00
a.m., at Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, with entombment to
follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made
to the National Kidney Foundation, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, or Catholic Social
Services in memory of Patricia Barry.
