Olga “Korie” Creaser
Age 84, passed away on April 29, 2026. Surviving are her son, Michael J. Creaser and daughter Natasha A. Creaser. Olga was born on November 13, 1941, in what was then Nazi-occupied Prague, Czechoslovakia. Her father was taken away and killed by the Nazis. Her mother was tortured then released only to live a short life of alcoholism and mental illness. Olga was taken in and raised by her maternal Russian/Ukrainian maternal grandmother and family. After a time in a refugee camp, she and her maternal family were allowed into the US in the fall of 1950. They all lived in a small, “railroad” apartment on the lower East Side.
Olga persevered academically and was admitted to NYC’s prestigious H.S. of Music and Art. She always maintained Music & Art was the best school she ever attended even though she earned an M.A. from U of M, an M.A. and Ph.D. from MSU, and a J.D. from Cooley.
Having been renamed “Korie” at U of M, she met and married Philip Creaser from Saginaw. Seven years and two beautiful children later, Olga was divorced. She persevered again and quickly earned a teaching certificate from MSU. She taught and after seven years became a school principal. Although admitted to the State Bar of Michigan, she never practiced formally but used her degree to help others pro-bono. “Korie,” as she became known in Michigan, loved and saw beauty in almost everything. She adored children. She loved to sing and dance, and in her retirement, she discovered a love for gardening and yard work. She also traveled extensively culminating in her favorite trip which was to the Holy Land. Olga tried hard to be a good human being, Christian, mother, daughter, granddaughter, friend, student, teacher, and principal. She was loved by many and will be missed and remembered by many.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2026, at St. Mary Cathedral, 219 Seymour Ave., Lansing, MI 48933 with interment to follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Lansing, MI. Her family will receive friends one hour prior at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Aid To The Church In Need.
Arrangements are by the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel.

May 2, 2026 at 10:58 amI worked with Korie for 11 years at Cedar Elementary in Mason. She had a rough beginning in her life, but overcame all the struggles. I pray she is at peace and God gives peace to Michael and Tasha.

May 3, 2026 at 8:10 amMy husband and I had the pleasure of living next door to Korie in Hawk Hallow. She was a very special neighbor, and we loved helping her. Several months after she moved in, I went over to ask if I could borrow an egg. She was so excited, and said,” now we’re officially neighbors.”
Blessings of peace and love to Michael and Tasha.

May 4, 2026 at 8:28 pmKorie, Tasha, & Mike were beloved childhood neighborhood friends from Heights Avenue. Korie was warm and welcoming. I remember she would speak words of affirmation on my swimming kicks. I loved spending time playing at their house. I was in awe how all activity stopped when their babushka called. I was gutted when we moved away.
Praying for God’s consolation and peace for Tasha and Mike at this difficult time. May Korie Creaser rest in peace.

May 6, 2026 at 8:22 pmOh my gosh. I absolutely loved Mrs. Creaser! She was so incredibly sweet. I think her 1st year as Principal was when we were in Kindergarten (I could be wrong) however she was always smiling! I sent her a card many years ago thanking her! Truly such a light in this world! I had no idea how hard her childhood was. You would never have known it based on how beautiful and kind she was. I wish I could come home for her funeral! Michael and Natasha, please know what a positive impact your mom made on me, so I know she had the same impact on so many kids!

May 6, 2026 at 8:25 pmI was a student of hers, and later did her hair for years! Loved our talks and hearing about her determination and perseverance through life. She was so inspiring. I’ve missed seeing her over the last couple years, I know the travel to see me got harder for her. She’ll be missed.

May 6, 2026 at 8:36 pmOur four children had the privilege of being under her care at Cedar Street School all of their elementary years. Knowing she was in the building each day made it so much easier to send our little ones off to school. Korie was well loved and well respected.
