Norman K. “Norm” Garnett
Age 83, passed away February 17, 2017. He was born November 20, 1933, in Marshall, to Robert and Alma Garnett. Norm attended Central Michigan University for his undergraduate studies, and graduated from Michigan State University with his Master’s degree. He was a French and Humanities teacher at Holt High School for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, where he had served as a deacon and elder, and did home visits. Norm volunteered at McLaren Hospital and loved traveling, history, language, and most importantly, he loved his family.
Surviving are: his wife of 32 years, Betty; children, Robert Darbor, Daniel Darbor, Vickie (Kim) Cook and Ted (Mitzi) Darbor; 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Nancy (Larry) Bartlett. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and Thomas Garnett.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at the First Presbyterian Church of Holt, 2021 N. Aurelius Rd., with The Rev. Kirk R. Miller officiating. His family will receive friends at the church from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, and one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church, or the Capital Area Humane Society.
